Dust along top edge of text block, offsetting to endpapers. Solid text block. In the publisher’s scarce dust jacket, $5.00 on front flap, numerous archival repairs to verso, split hinges, heavily reinforced along all seams.

Inscribed on the front free endpaper to Senator Jesse H. Metcalf. Inscription reads: “For my friends Senator + Mrs. Jesse Metcalf / from Charles G. Dawes / March 5th, 1940.”

Senator Jesse Metcalf (1860-1942) served in the United States Senate from 1924-1937, representing the State of Rhode Island.
