Description
First edition of Lament for the Sleepwalker by Dustan Thompson, with letters between literary agents confirming publication history of the poems.
Octavo, [8], 50pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. No additional printings listed on copyright page. Solid text block, light wear along edges, a near fine copy. Previous ownership stamp to front endpaper, stating “Pearn, Pollinger & Higham.” In the publisher’s dust jacket, $2.50 retail price on front flap, a few short closed tears along edges, light shelf wear, a very good example.
Includes three typed letters laid-in: one addressed to literary agent Laurence Pollinger (of Pearn, Pollinger & Higham), another addressed to Frederic Warburg, and a third to Roger Stenhouse. All letters relate to the appearance of some Thompson poems in this volume that had already appeared in POEMS, released by U.K. publishers Secker & Warburg in 1946.
This listing includes a first edition of POEMS (1946), in very good condition with the publisher’s dust jacket.
