Charlene Smith is a South African journalist and award-winning author of 14 books. She is the authorized biographer of South African president, Nelson Mandela. This work, Mandela, was released in September of 1999. The Collectors’ Edition of 100 leather-bound copies were distributed to contributors to the book. Nelson Mandela received copy #1, and the author, Charlene Smith, received this copy, #2.
