In the publisher’s near fine dust jacket, retail price on front flap, a few points of rubbing at edges, bright illustrations. Signed on the half-title by the author.

    The first edition of Misty of Chincoteague appeared in 1947, inspired by the real-life story of the Beebe family and their efforts to raise a wild horse. The book was a runner-up for a Newbery Medal and the basis for the 1961 film, titled Misty.
