General Austin S. Miller is a retired U.S. Army officer who served as the commander of U.S. Forces-Afghanistan and NATO’s Resolute Support Mission from 2018 to 2021. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1983, Miller had a distinguished 38-year military career. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Delta Force, and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). Notably, he commanded the Delta Force squadron during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, later rising to lead JSOC from 2016 to 2018. Miller played key roles in counterterrorism operations globally and retired in 2021 after overseeing the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
