Complete with frontispiece portrait with tissue cover, 8 full-page illustrations of battle scenes and 8 full-page color illustrations of battle flags. A few points of foxing to text block, light foxing to leaf ends. (Nevins II: 130) (Eicher: 637) (Dornbusch IV: 1834) The first edition was published in 1888. This is the nearly identical second edition, published the following year.

My Story Of The War details the wartime activities of a journalist and social worker during the Civil War. It describes military hospitals in St. Louis, with descriptions of the sanitary conditions and her efforts to improve hygiene. She describes her meeting with Ulysses S. Grant before the battle of Vicksburg.
