Slight lean to text block, sunning to spine, top edge dyed red, a very good example. In publisher’s first state dust jacket, $2.50 retail price on front flap, no reviews, usual sunning to spine, with slight wear to edges and small piece of tape on verso. Bright covers, with acetate wraparound jacket, overall a very good example. Signed by the author on the flyleaf. With laid-in autographed photo of Adolphe Menjou and first day cover envelope signed by Kirk Douglas.
Humphrey Cobb (1899-1944) was a Canadian-American author known for his novel Paths of Glory and his screenwriting for films like San Quentin, starring Humphrey Bogart. Paths of Glory was adapted into a film in 1957. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, the film starred Kirk Douglas as Colonel Dax and Adolphe Menjou as Major General Georges Broulard.
