Octavo, 208pp, [8pp]. Brown cloth, title in gilt. Wear at edges, some loss at top of spine. Top edge gilt. Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover. Brown end papers. Inscribed on front free end paper by John H. Tyler, the son of President John Tyler. Inscription reads: “Virgil A. Brock from Mrs. Mary Jane Taylor / from her friend John H. Tyler. Christmas, 1868.”
Comments: John H. Tyler served as the Private Secretary for his father, President John Tyler. He was a captain during the Mexican War, serving in the Virginia Infantry. He passed away in 1896.
