Richard Lugar (1932-2019) was a lifelong politician, serving as a US Senator from Indiana from 1977 to 2013. During his time in Washington, Lugar was Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee. Prior to this, Lugar was the 44th Mayor of Indianapolis, in office from 1968-1976.
