Solid text block, bumped edges, sunning and wear to spine. From the University of Cincinnati Robert S. Marx Law Library, with library listed on covers and stamps to endpapers and title page. Previous ownership inscription on front endpaper of each volume “Christmas 1902 / From Hon. John H. Weiss.”

George S. Boutwell (1818-1905) was Secretary of the Treasury under President U.S. Grant, and later served as the first Commissioner of Internal Revenue under President Abraham Lincoln. Boutwell also served as Governor of Massachusetts and a Senator and Representative from Massachusetts. The Honorable Judge John H. Weiss was a judge in Dauphin, Pennsylvania.
