Comments: Gerald R. Ford represented Michigan’s 5th Congressional District. He would go on to serve on the House Appropriations Committee and the Defense Appropriations Committee, eventually being named the House Minority Leader. In 1963, after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, President Johnson would personally ask Ford to serve on the Warren Commission.
