Ross Poldark is the first novel in Winston Graham’s Poldark series, which consists of twelve historical novels set in Cornwall, England. The book was originally published in 1945 and follows the life of Captain Ross Poldark upon his return from the American Revolutionary War. Initially published by Ward, Lock & Co., Ross Poldark established the groundwork for the series that spanned from 1945 to 2002. It gained renewed popularity in the mid-1970s when it was adapted into a successful BBC television series. The series was later republished by Pan Books, and the novels experienced a resurgence of interest with another television adaptation that aired between 2015 and 2019.
