Octavo, [two volumes], [6], 856pp; [6], 859-1729pp. Yellow cloth, black vellum boards, title stamped in gilt over black print. No additional printings noted, both volumes with 1952 date on title page. Illustrated endpapers, with map of Sironia, Texas and a family tree. Top edge dyed red. Previous ownership inscription in blue pen on front free endpaper, embossed ownership stamp on the half title of each volume. In the publisher’s first state dust jackets, $10.00 on the front flap, chipping along edges of volume I, a few short closed tears, light sunning to spines, bright illustrations.

Sironia, Texas by Madison Cooper was published in 1952 by Houghton Mifflin in a two-volume set totaling over 1,700 pages. The novel, set in a fictional Texas town modeled after Waco, was Cooper’s only published work. It is one of the longest English language novels ever published.
