Stated “First printing, 1968” on copyright page. Solid text block, faint toning along edges, a near fine example. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $4.95 retail price on front flap, some shelf wear. Faint, thin dampstains to top and bottom edges of spine, primarily visible on verso, a very good example.
Joan Didion (1934-2021) was an acclaimed American writer and journalist known for political writings, notably her coverage of the Central Park Five case. She authored influential works such as “Slouching Towards Bethlehem,” “The White Album,” and “The Year of Magical Thinking,” which won the National Book Award for Nonfiction. Slouching Towards Bethlehem was Didion’s first work of nonfiction.
