Brown endpapers, with paste down on front endpaper of Volume I, new rear endpaper in Volume I. Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover in each volume, complete with 23 illustrations (two maps, one fold-out) in Volume I and 12 illustrations in Volume II. Text block slightly cocked in both volumes, with some separation of cloth. Occasional pencil marks. An overall acceptable copy, with previous use and wear from handling.
