A signed copy of The Complete Works of Tacitus, from the personal library of former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. Octavo, xxv, 773pp. Tan boards, title in gilt over green label. Illustrated end papers. Inscribed and dated by Robert McNamara, noting “Ann Arbor” and “3/29/52.” In 1952, McNamara was working as a “Wiz Kid” for the Ford Motor Company. By 1960, he would become the first president of the Ford Motor Company from outside the Ford family, but quickly resigned to take a position in the Kennedy Administration.
