Thick octavo, 527pp. Full brown leather, heavily worn boards, title and illustrations in gilt. Light foxing throughout. Tipped in title page. Publisher’s advertising statement on front pastedown endpaper. Sound text block. With numerous colored plates, maps and full page illustrations, depicting scenes from the western United States. This copy is not found in Sabin. A similar copy (Sabin 33300), titled Historical Collections of the Great West, was published the same year. The index for this copy indicates that the chapter “Pacific Railroad” is the last chapter, but it continues with an “Appendix Containing History Of Kansas.”
