Octavo, vi, [1], 386pp, [2]. Black cloth, title in gilt over green on front cover and spine. Stated “First Edition” with publisher’s “H-Q” code on copyright page. Solid text block, lightly bumped corners, toning to endpapers, dust remnants to top edge. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $2.50 retail price on front flap, chipping and wear along edges of jacket, with some points colored in with black marker. A very good example.
The Hills Beyond was published posthumously, extracted by Edward Aswell from a larger manuscript following Thomas Wolfe’s death in 1938.
