Signed by the author on a specialty plate in Volume I, featuring the home of John Marshall. All volumes from a limited edition of 500 copies, this being number 4.
John Marshall (1755-1835) was the fourth Secretary of State and the fourth Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. He is the longest serving chief justice in the history of the court, and established numerous judicial precedents, including the right of judicial review and the constitutional separation of powers.
