Translated from French into English by Thomas North. The text being prepared for this Edition by Roland Baughman with an Introduction for this Edition by Emil Ludwig.
Octavo, [eight volumes]. Copies in near fine condition. All volumes in blue cloth, titles in gilt on spines. Top edges dyed blue, some minor fading near spines. Light shelf wear and some sunning to spines, especially in Volume I. Stain to spine of Volume VIII at title. In the publisher’s two slipcases, orange boards with some shelf wear, titles printed on label. Some chipping and cracking to the slipcase for volumes V-VIII, with a tear to side panel and previous owner’s tape repair to seam. Slipcase for Volumes I-IV has no cracks, only light chipping and shelf wear, stable.
From a limited edition of signed copies, these volumes being number 592, signed by the designer, W.A. Dwiggins for The Limited Editions Club. A fine set.
