Description
Signed by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, bound in full red morocco by The Chelsea Bindery. This set is signed by the author in The Fellowship of the Ring, the seventh impression, from 1957. The Two Towers is a fifth impression, and The Return of the King is a third impression.
Octavo, [three volumes], 423pp, [1]; 352pp; 416pp. Bound in full red leather, titles in gilt on spines, raised bands with decorative gilt compartments, “Ring & Eye of Sauron” design on the front covers. Faint sunning to spines, almost imperceptible. All edges gilt, with marbled endpapers. Each volume includes the original map, all in near fine condition, short closed tear to map in The Two Towers. Housed in slipcase, marbled boards, lined with black cloth. This set is signed by J.R.R. Tolkien on the title page of The Fellowship of the Ring. (Hammond & Anderson A5a, I, II, III)
