First edition of The Marble Faun, in two volumes, by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Small octavo, [two volumes], xiv, [15]-283; 284pp. Both volumes in brown cloth, title in gilt on spine, with embellishments blind stamped on front and back covers. No additional printings listed on copyright pages. Both volumes feature solid text blocks, some chipping and wear to the spines and corners. Volume I has a 1* at the bottom of page ix. Both volumes contain a previous owner’s inscription, with Volume II dated March 1860. (BAL 7621). A very good example of a famous romance story.
