Description
Signed first edition, third impression of The Rise Of Theodore Roosevelt, by Edmund Morris.
Octavo, 886pp. Black cloth, title in gilt on spine. Stated “third impression” on copyright page. In publisher’s first state dust jacket, $15.95 on front flap, with “7903” and SBN at bottom of front flap, some rubbing to bottom edge. This dust jacket makes reference to being “A Main Selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club,” which can be confusing when differentiating between the first edition and a book club edition. The book club dust jacket has no price and none of the markers of the first state dust jacket. There is also a significant difference in the paper quality between both editions, evident when compared side by side. This copy is signed by the author on the front free endpaper.
Following the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, author and historian Edmund Morris wrote Theodore Rex, which follows the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt from 1901-1909. This work was followed by Colonel Roosevelt, which details the final years of Roosevelt’s life and completes this trilogy.
