First edition of this printing, known as the Sideline Triangle edition, with no additional printings mentioned. The first edition was released in 1962 by Prentice-Hall Publishing. Book appears unread, in fine condition. Signed by the legendary coach on the dedication page: “Thanks for your interest. Keep up the good work! Best Wishes! Fred “Tex” Winter.”
Tex Winter was named the head coach of Kansas State in 1953, where he found great success using the triple-post offense. His national profile rose in retirement, when in 1985 he was hired as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls. He taught the triple-post offense to Michael Jordan, who used it to win six NBA championships in the 1990s. Winter followed head coach Phil Jackson to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999 and passed away in 2018.
