Description

First edition of The Triple-Post Offense by Tex Winter.

Octavo, [11], 228pp. Red cloth, title printed in black, illustration of basketball court on front cover. First edition, first printing, with no additional printings mentioned on copyright page. Light toning to endpapers, previous ownership notation on front free endpaper. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, toning to spine, chipping along both edges, some loss to the top edge of the spine, closed tear with archival repair to front panel, a very good example. An exceptionally scarce copy of The Triple-Post Offense by the legendary coach, Tex Winter.

Tex Winter was named the head coach of Kansas State in 1953, where he found great success using the triple-post offense. His national profile rose in retirement when in 1985 he was hired as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls. He taught the triple-post offense to Michael Jordan, who used it to win six NBA championships in the 1990s. Winter followed head coach Phil Jackson to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999 and passed away in 2018.
