Octavo, [10], 245pp. Red hardcover, title in white on black cloth spine. Stated “First Printing – 1970” on copyright page. Solid text block, light rubbing to print on spine, faint foxing to top edge. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $6.95 retail price on front flap, touch of rubbing to corners, shelf worn. Faint toning across flaps and verso of jacket. Without the normal glassine laminate issue, as is typical with this jacket.

A near fine copy of Gil Scott-Heron’s first published novel.

Gil Scott-Heron (1949-2011) is best known for his spoken word piece “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” which critiques media, consumerism, and political apathy.
