Octavo, [nine volumes]. Three-quarter calf, marbled paper covered boards. Title in gilt on spines with gilt embellishments. All edges marbled with matching marbled endpapers. No additional printings listed on copyright pages. Solid text block, some rubbing to corners and thin scratches to spines. Internally bright and clear.
Inscribed by Holmes on the front flyleaf of Page from an Old Volume of Life: “To the Oliver Wendell Holmes Hospital from the Author / Oct. 28th 1889.”
