Description
Royal Edition of The Complete Writings of Theodore Roosevelt, published in 1903 by Gebbie and Company.
Octavo, [three volumes]. Three-quarter blue crushed morocco, marbled boards, decorative gilt compartments on spine. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers, sewn-in red silk bookmark. Includes frontispiece with tissue cover in each volume. This set is three volumes of 22, as issued by the publishers. From a limited edition release of 650 copies, this being number 3. Includes The Rough Riders, Ranch Life and The Hunting Trail, and Hero Tales from American History. A fine set.
According to the publisher’s prospectus, this work was issued in 22 volumes and limited to 650 copies. Due to the scarcity of this set, it is doubtful that 650 were ever sold. The plates for this edition were eventually used to print the Elkhorn Edition by Charles Scribner’s Sons.
