With these four volumes, Robert A. Caro has authored the definitive history of the life of President Lyndon Johnson, with a 5th volume to cover the last years of his presidency and retirement. The Path to Power, released in 1982, won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award. The 3rd volume, Master of the Senate, won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography and the National Book Award for Nonfiction.
