Octavo, [26pp]. Brown vellum covers, title in gilt on cover. Marbled endpapers. Matching brown slipcase. This copy was personally dedicated to President Gerald R. Ford, with his name appearing in gilt on the cover and dedication page. Signed by President Gerald R. Ford and Postmaster General E.T. Klassen. This piece was a gift from Postmaster General E.T. Klassen to President Ford in December, 1974. Record of its receipt are included in the Ford Presidential Library archives.
This unique work commemorates 100 years of international cooperation between the postal services of the major industrialized nations of the world. It includes 8 commemorative stamps from designer Bradbury Thompson that promote the theme of letter writing. The stamps feature La Belle Liseuse by Liotard, Don Antonio Noriega by Goya, and a detail of Michelangelo from Raphael’s The School of Athens.
