When Hell Was In Session tells the story of author Rear Admiral Jeremiah Denton’s eight years as a prisoner of war in the Hoa Lo Prison during the Vietnam War. He was a part of the Hanoi March in 1966 and was later the first American to step off the plane after a successful release from prison during Operation Homecoming. Denton’s story was adapted into a film by Hal Holbrook in 1979.
