Faint offsetting to front endpaper, light foxing to second free endpaper, where Haley inscribed this copy. This copy appears unread. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $12.50 on front flap, a fine example.
Inscribed by the author on the second free endpaper: “Dr. William _, with appreciation! Alex Haley. 11/1/76.”
Roots won the Pulitzer Prize special award in 1977.
