In publisher’s dust jacket, retail price on front flap, light shelf wear, some wear from handling at spine, otherwise a near fine example. Inscribed by the author to a Vietnam veteran: “For John Beckert, With deepest respect for your service in Vietnam under the most difficult conditions. All best wishes. H.R. McMaster. Fort Irwin, CA. December, 1998.”
Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster wrote this book, Dereliction of Duty, in 1997, as part of his master’s thesis at the University of North Carolina. He called the loss in Vietnam a “uniquely human failure,” with the war being lost in Washington, D.C., not the battlefields of Vietnam. In 2017, McMaster as asked to serve as the 26th National Security Advisor for President Donald Trump.
