Thomas “Lud” Ashley represented the 9th District of Ohio in Congress from 1955-1981. He met future President George H.W. Bush at Yale, and they became lifelong friends, despite their political differences. The author of this book, Congressman Jim Wright, served 30+ years in the US House of Representatives. He became the 48th Speaker of the House (1987-1989), resigning after an investigation by the House Committee on Ethics. He died in 2015.
