The recipient of this book, Mr. Leonard Burchman, was assigned to work with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission in 1985. He developed a close working relationship with Mrs. Coretta Scott King as the first holiday was observed in 1986. The federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983 and first observed in 1986.
