Light foxing to outer edges, not affecting text. Toning to endpapers in Volume I, occasional spotting throughout. Lacking slipcase, which is common. Signed by author Carl Sandburg on limitation page, this being number 489 of 525. Limitation reads: “The First Edition of Abraham Lincoln: The War Years is limited to 525 Copies on all rag paper, number and signed by the author, of which 500 are for sale. This is number 489.”
Comments: The War Years were the best selling volumes of Carl Sandburg’s landmark series on President Abraham Lincoln. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1940 for The War Years.
