Octavo, x, [6], 373pp, [2pp ads]. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine, decorative gilt illustration on front cover. First printing, with Scribner’s Seal and “Published March, 1916” on copyright page. Top edge gilt. Front hinge reinforced, light rubbing to cloth. Complete with frontispiece portrait (tissue cover), photographic plate and illustration. Issued with a dust jacket, not present here. This first edition consisted of 3000 copies from the publisher, sold for $2.00, beginning in January of 1916.
