Octavo, 437pp. Original red cloth, printed title on spine, crosses on cover in black. Light soiling to cloth boards. Stated “first printing” on copyright page. Clean pages, no extraneous marks. Publisher’s first state dust jacket, in very good condition, with $4.75 price and ‘8/54’ showing on front flap, tape repair on verso along top edge of spine, light toning to spine, otherwise a bright example.
William Faulkner considered A Fable to be his masterpiece, describing it as “the best work of my life and maybe of my time.” The book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1955.
