    Octavo [four volumes], xxii, 521pp; xi, 433pp; xiv, 402pp; xi, 403pp. Gray cloth with gilt facsimile signature on covers, black cloth spines with title in gilt over red. Stated “First Edition” and “Presentation Edition. Not for Sale” on copyright pages. Solid text blocks, faint toning to edges, lightly bumped corners, a touch of toning to endpapers, top edges dyed red, near fine examples. In publisher’s dust jackets, $6.00 retail price on front flaps, some wear to edges, a few small closed tears and chips to each jacket, sunning to spines, foxing to versos. (Cohen A267.3[II]a) An exceptionally rare set.

    This set includes all four volumes: The Birth of Britain, The New World, The Age of Revolution and The Great Democracies.
