Description
Limited edition of A Man For All People: Hubert H. Humphrey, by Ralph G. Martin.
Octavo, [unpaginated]. Brown leather, gilt title on spine, illustration on cover. Multiple B&W illustrations. Housed in matching brown slipcase, near fine, minor wear at edges.
Signed by Vice President Humphrey on front end paper: “With my thanks and best wishes / Hubert Humphrey.”
Comments: Humphrey served as Vice President for Lyndon Johnson from 1964 until 1968. He was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in the contentious 1968 Presidential Election after President Johnson decided not to run and Robert F. Kennedy was killed in Los Angeles. He supported Johnson’s war stance, which was unpopular with Democratic voters. He lost to former Vice President Richard Nixon. He would return to the Senate in 1971.
