Octavo, xvi, [17]-366pp, [4pp ads]. Original brown cloth, title stamped on spine, publisher’s logo blind stamped on covers. Blue endpapers. Corners bumped and worn. Spine rubbed, spine ends lightly frayed. Light spotting along bottom edge of text block, light shelf wear to covers. Intermittent foxing, soiling to pages 142-145. Previous owner’s name in pencil on front free endpaper. Pencil notations on front flyleaf and last page of ads. Binder’s label on rear pastedown endpaper. A good example.
This work was originally published by Edward Kellogg under the title of Labor and Other Capital (1849). It had been Kellogg’s intent to revise and republish the book, but he became ill and died in 1858. His daughter, Mary Kellogg Putnam, took on the task of editing her father’s work and issued this new edition in 1861 under the title A New Monetary System.
