Brent Scowcroft (1925-2020) served as the National Security Advisor for President Gerald R. Ford and President George H.W. Bush. After leaving the Bush administration, he wrote A World Transformed with President George H.W. Bush, which was an insiders’ account of the White House after the fall of the Soviet Union. In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Scowcroft the Chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, where he found himself at odds with Vice President Cheney on the Iraq Invasion. In 2008, he published America and the World: Conversations on the Future of American Foreign Policy, along with Zbigniew Brzezinski. General Wesley Clark (b. 1944) was Supreme Allied Commander Europe from 1997-2000, then ran for the democratic nomination in 2004.
