Comments: This edition was inscribed to Treasury Secretary John W. Snyder. The inscription reads: ?To Hon. John W. Snyder with every good wish for a happy Christmas. Harry Truman. December 25, 1951.? Secretary Snyder was appointed by President Truman in 1946. He was a lifelong friend of Truman, so after his appointment, critics complained of cronyism. Snyder was a conservative businessman, with strong beliefs on reducing the federal debt and keeping interest rates low. He served until the end of the Truman administration in 1953, after which he retired. He passed away in 1985.
