Major R.V.C. Bodley (1892-1970) was a British Army officer and historical author. After serving in World War I, Bodley left the military and traveled extensively in the Middle East, where he immersed himself in Bedouin life and culture. He wrote several books based on his experiences, including Wind in the Sahara and The Messenger, a biography of the Prophet Muhammad. Bodley also explored themes beyond the Middle East, as seen in Togo, his biography of Japanese Admiral T g Heihachir .
