Elizabeth was an avid sportswoman, who bonded with the former president in the 1930s before attending Stanford University. She married John C. Seward in 1957. Seward was an architect and a descendant of William H. Seward, President Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of State. Elizabeth died in 1998.
