    Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. (1912-2002) was the first African American brigadier general in the United States Air Force. He was awarded his fourth star by President Bill Clinton in 1998. Davis followed in the footsteps of his father, Benjamin O. Davis, Sr., the first African American brigadier general in the United States Army.
