Colin Powell praised Black Profiles in Courage in the press, calling it “a fascinating account of the exploits of courageous black men and women.” Both Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Colin Powell were featured speakers at Peter Lowe’s “Success 1996” seminar. Since that time, Abdul-Jabbar has consistently referenced General Powell as an inspiration for his philanthropic work.
