Description

Inscribed first edition of Bucher: My Story by Commander Lloyd M. Bucher to fellow crewmate, Richard Rogala.

Octavo, 447pp. Beige cloth, title on spine in silver gilt over black cloth. Illustrated end papers with maps of North Korea. In the publisher’s very good dust jacket, retail price on front flap, wear along top edge with some chipping, archival reinforcement along bottom edge of spine, otherwise bright illustrations.

Inscribed by Commander of the USS Pueblo on the title page: “For Richard Rogala, I was proud to be your shipmate & prouder still of your fine performance. Lloyd Bucher. CDR USN. Christmas 1970.”

A fine association copy.

The first month he was there, he was forty years old when this happened…after this happened, I thought he was eighty. He definitely was worked over real well. And when he got back, the Captain stood behind us, in every way, shape and form. Richard J. Rogala on his captain, Lloyd M. Bucher, while being held captive in North Korea. The USS Pueblo remains in North Korea as a trophy over American imperialism.
