Signed limited edition of Carrying The Fire by Apollo 11 astronaut, Michael Collins.
Octavo, xvi, 388pp. Gray cloth with illustration of moon on covers, title on spine over blue label. Illustrated endpapers, with photographs from the lunar surface. Signed on the limitation page by Michael Collins, with the limitation reading: “This copy is from a limited edition signed by the author for members of The Adventure Library. Michael Collins.” It is believed that only 110 copies were signed, but that is not stated on the limitation page.
This work is part of the Adventure Library Series, a 30-volume set published between 1994-2003.
Michael Collins (1930-2021) served as the command module pilot during the Apollo 11 mission. He served alongside Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin but remained in orbit around the moon as the others explored the surface. He retired from NASA in 1970. He is one of 24 people who have flown to the moon. In retirement, he became the Director of the National Air and Space Museum. He died at age 90 in 2021.
