    Description

First edition of Dulcy: A Comedy in Three Acts by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly, in scarce dust jacket.

Octavo, xv, 207pp, [4pp ads]. Light tan paper boards over brown cloth, paper label covering the full spine, title printed in brown. Complete with frontispiece by Neysa McMein and four full-page photographic illustrations. Previous ownership notation on front free endpaper, note in pen opposite copyright page, otherwise a near fine example, solid text block. In the publisher’s scarce first state dust jacket, heavily chipped and worn, some loss at spine, stable hinges, a very good example.

Dulcy was the first hit comedy by George S. Kaufman and his first collaboration with Marc Connelly. It is based on a comic heroine made popular by Frank Pierce Adams, with the authors making note on the title page: “With a Bow to Franklin P. Adams.”
